Position Description

The Default Analyst manages a portfolio of accounts in various default statuses such as Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Repossession and Deceased and ensures the accounts are worked according to policy, procedures, applicable laws, regulations and investor requirements. The tasks include but are not limited to: working pipeline of accounts and executing required tasks with accuracy and within acceptable timelines, assigning accounts to external legal counsel or other vendors for bankruptcy, foreclosure or repossession, monitoring vendor and attorney milestones. Submitting or keying the appropriate maintenance requests to flag accounts, manage statement messages, etc. Follow-up for SCRA status, complete proofs of claim, relief from stay and filing claims with estates. Analyze documentation prior to submission and ensuring accuracy.

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Associates degree with 4+ years of experience in the financial services industry with past experience which includes bankruptcy, foreclosure, probate or collections. Must have experience in collections and default related regulations and laws.

High School Diploma with 6+ years of experience in the financial services industry with past experience which includes bankruptcy, foreclosure, probate or collections. Must have experience in collections and default related regulations and laws.

Additional Requirements:
Must complete federal registration and annual renewal as required by the SAFE Act.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with complex, default-related tasking and notation.
Ability to meet department standards including: quality, productivity, initiative, job knowledge, team work and attendance.
Strong knowledge of industry specific regulations and laws pertaining to collections, default, bankruptcy and foreclosure.
Strong active listening, assimilation of information, and sound judgment.
Personal time management, ability to stay focused and complete tasks within acceptable timeframes.
Ability to read and follow policies and procedures.
Handles confidential and proprietary information with discretion and care.
Ability to identify, analyze and solve complex issues quickly with logic and reason.
Ability to quickly adapt to change.
Identifies risks and escalates effectively.
Ability to work with minimum supervision, determining when to act independently and when to refer situations to superiors.
Knowledge of the Bankruptcy Act.
Knowledge of commercial and consumer lending (creditors rights).

Other Preferred Qualifications:
Paralegal experience.
Specific knowledge and experience as a user of the CACS collection and recovery system.
Specific knowledge and experience as a user of ALS, TSYS, FISERV or other Bank/Host/Mainframe servicing systems.
Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Outlook proficiency.
