 Area Overview:

The Financial Services Group is responsible for providing banking services to the U.S. government, banks and other financial institutions. Within this group, the Electronic Payments (EP) Function provides critical national services for Fedwire® Securities, Fedwire® Funds, and the National Settlement Service (NSS).


This position is located in our East Rutherford, New Jersey Operations Center.  Candidate must be able to work flexible rotating hours 7:15 am - 4:53 pm / 10:00 am - 7:38 pm


Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform critical operational activities, which may include: the issuance, servicing and redemption of securities for the U.S. Treasury and various domestic and international government agencies; processing incoming and outgoing funds payments; and providing strong customer support for high value settlements;
  • Respond to customer inquiries and conduct investigations regarding funds and/or securities transfers for issuers, depository institutions, settlement agents,  other Federal Reserve Banks and internal New York Fed customers;
  • Assist in analyzing current operational procedures and in documenting recommendations to improve work-flows and quality performance;
  • Interact on a regular basis with counterparts in other Federal Reserve Banks in performing operational activities;
  • Assist in preparing customer analytics and participate in customer relationship meetings over time;
  • Prepare the areas' settlement proofs (i.e., cash, billing);
  • Maintain accurate operational statistics on activities performed and ensure timely submission;
  • Participate in quarterly Fedwire and network contingency tests on Saturdays.

  Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree  and  1-3 years of experience preferably in a financial services operations processing environment or related field;
  • Ability to work flexible rotating work hours  of  7:15 am - 4:53 pm and 10:00 am - 7:38 pm;
  • Ability to work a few  Saturdays a year for contingency tests on an ad hoc basis;
  • Proven client service skills in an operations environment including experience resolving customer operational issues and inquiries;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook;
  • Demonstrated background creating documentation for process and procedures and/or identifying opportunities for improvement;
  • Ability to create qualitative and quantitative reporting and metrics;
  • Ability to balance daily work activities with longer term deliverables;
  • Familiarity with business process excellence techniques, a plus;
  • Knowledge and skills related to cash and/or collateral proof procedures helpful;
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including attention to detail, ability to manage multiple assignments and ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to various levels of management and staff;
  • Ability to travel to the lower Manhattan head office and to other Reserve Banks, as needed.
