City Manager


Description of the Job:

Under policy direction of the City Council, the City Manager performs a wide range of administrative activities related to finances and accounting, marketing and promotion of services, staffing and personnel operations, and discretionary activities that serve to support effective business operations; uses considerable independent judgment in decisions that influence operations; advises and assists the City Council in planning, policy, and operations matters. This individual serves as leader of the City Management Team and through them directs day to day operations in accordance with policy established by the Mayor and Council. The City Manager shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the City and delegate special projects, grants, liaison, and management studies. The City Manager works with diverse citizen committees, negotiates contracts, conducts research, writes reports, makes public presentations, and represents the City at functions both inside and outside the community. Assists in developing solutions to complex management problems and serve as a resource to all City departments.

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Business administration, Public AdministraOon, PoliOcal Science,
* Five years of local government experience with a focus on city management;
* Prior supervisory experience including knowledge of principles and practices of business administration, personnel practices, employment laws, program budgeting, general
accounting, fiscal management practices; office procedures, business operating systems, and the appropriate methods and means of dealing with human behavior situations in a variety of business circumstances;
* Valid Nebraska Driver's License; or the ability to obtain within 30 days of residency
