Finance Director
The Town of Marineland, FL has an immediate opening for a Director of Finance. The position is part-time and comes with a one-year contract with option to renew. Working closely with the Town Commission, Manager, Clerk, and Attorney, the Director of Finance will plan and direct all aspects of financial and accounting activities for the Town of Marineland. Broadly, these duties include monthly reconciliation of the bank accounts and accounts payable and receivable, providing assistance with grant administration, budget preparation, monthly and year-to-date budget vs. actual accrual basis reporting,
assistance with Truth in Millage (TRIM) preparations, and assistance with the annual audit. The Director of Finance will also receive and review monthly financial reports for the Town of Marineland’s municipal marina, which is managed/operated by an independent contractor. Specific duties are detailed below.
Specific duties:
1. Attend monthly meetings in Marineland, FL – 6pm, third Thursday of the month
2. Reconcile bank accounts and perform general accounting duties, including: accounts receivable and cash receipts, accounts payable and cash disbursements, business licensing, and debt management
3. Prepare and present a report of budget vs. actual accrual at the monthly meeting
4. Prepare, organize, and record invoices, sales receipts, and tax receipts
5. Prepare checks for bills and staff compensation (typically no more than 10 checks per month)
6. Handle all deposits (typically less than 5 per month)
7. File monthly sales tax and quarterly State Reemployment Tax
8. Prepare staff 1099s, annually
9. Prepare Public Depositors Report, annually
10. Prepare quarterly budget review and annual budget recommendations
11. Prepare and present quarterly financial overview for the Town of Marineland’s municipal marina at
the Town meetings
12. Work with the auditor to ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and reporting
13. Work with the auditor to advise the Town Commission on accounting policies and procedures
14. Develop financial forecasts, including the Town’s operating and capital budgets
Minimum requirements:
1. Government finance experience
2. Proficiency with Quickbooks
3. BS in related discipline or equivalent experience
