Accounting Technician
The Savannah Airport Commission is currently accepting applications for one full time Accounting Technician position with a focus in Accounts Receivable.
Assists with organizing and conducting departmental financial activities in the functional areas of accounts payable, fixed assets, accounts receivable, cash management, audits of tenant records and general accounting functions as needed. Assist the Assistant Director of Finance in the preparation of an annual budget. Variable accounts receivable duties that may be performed, but not limited to, the following: compile all necessary data, input data in system, verify accuracy of computer print out, post to General Ledger, make all necessary copies to be filed and attach back-up to invoice and mail.
Accounts Payable duties that may be performed, but not limited to, the following: open all invoices from vendors and date stamp, secure requisitions, receiving documents, approvals & purchase orders to be matched with the appropriate invoice, perform vendor maintenance, verify that quantities & dollar amounts match on purchase orders and invoices, check the calculation and account distribution, set up invoices for payment, input invoices, run reports to verify, and print checks, match invoices to checks, secure signatures, mail checks and file copies for the Commission files.
Education, Experience & Skills:
- High school graduation, supplemented by course work in accounting; and three years of specialized financial and clerical experience, and/or education/work experience equivalent to Associate Degree, including at least two years of experience in responsible double-entry accounting work; computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of double-entry accounting practices and procedures; knowledge of business arithmetic; knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; ability to make and verify arithmetical computations with accuracy and speed; ability to operate calculating and adding machines; knowledge and ability to operate computer system required.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as copier, typewriter, facsimile machine, etc. required.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to supervisor and other Commission personnel.
- Hearing ability to detect emergency broadcasts communications; vision ability of 20/20 with corrected lens required.
